Ah, you’re an artist?
You’ve come to the right place.
We’re going to show you three of the best websites which are available to host your music for free without any bells and whistles. This comes in handy when you’re looking to host a track and hook it up with your TrackPage within Tracktasia.
We refer to the link where your track can actually be downloaded directly for free as the ‘Secret Link’. This is because only should have access to it and be using it within your account, while your listeners go through their follow to download sequence and grow your fan base.
Dropbox is a great place to start if you’re new to sharing files online. It can be used for more than just individual tracks, as it allows you to have a folder on your computer which hosts all your files in the cloud. It makes it super easy for you as an artist to share individual tracks. All you need to do is find the file in your Dropbox folder, right click and select ‘Share Dropbox Link’ and it’ll automatically copy the public unique link to your clip board.
Then all you need to do is paste it into the ‘download link’ field within Tracktasia and you’re good to go!
MediaFire is another great alternative to host your files online. The platform is considered more of a ‘file host’ than Dropbox so a lot of the uploading and downloading is done through their website.
However the great thing about Mediafire is that you can directly link your .mp3 file to the download link which means the instant they hit ‘Download Now’ on your TrackPage they’ll ask the user where to save the mp3 on their computer.
This is great as it reduces the extra step needed which occurs in a few other providers.
See the screenshot of what it looks like when you get your Secret Link to use in your Tracktasia dashboard.
The less steps involved in downloading your track the better the experience for the user – which is what we’re all about!
This a newish file host which makes it super easy to upload your track.
Literally all you need to do is drag and drop your finished masterpiece into the file host and it’ll give you a download link (Free accounts are 90 days and if you create an account they’ll be there forever as long as you’re active enough every now and again!).
This is a great alternative to both Dropbox and Mediafire if you want to try out something different and very easy to use. The download sequence for Ge.tt is 2 step like Dropbox, which means they’ll be taken to the hosting website where they can download the song (not instant).
So that’s it!
